Close to 3,000 T&Tec workers will benefit as the government announces a $131 million settlement to resolve outstanding Cost of Living Allowance (COLA).

Making the announcement in the Lower House on Friday was Minister of Public Utilities Barry Padarath.

He said the OWTU wrote to the public utility in September, demanding a settlement.

Minister Padarath said the government listened, and an agreement was reached.

« I’m pleased to report that at approximately 2am on the morning of November 13th, 2025, T&Tec and the OWTU signed a Memorandum of Agreement, a historic and long overdue breakthrough that restores fairness to workers. The agreement provides relief for weekly paid workers, a new COLA of $5.75 per hour, raising the total COLA to $15.64 per hour. »

Minister Padarath said this means that the workers will be getting an early Christmas gift.

Additionally, monthly paid staff have had their COLA increased to just over $2,000.

The first tranche of retroactive payments was deposited into workers’ bank accounts on November 18th.
