TUCO President Slams "Mischief" Voice-Note

TUCO President Ainsley King has dismissed a circulating voice note suggesting that he attempted to influence the advancement of a calypsonian.
Speaking to reporters on Thursday, he said he believes this is part of a wider wave of misinformation surrounding this year’s Calypso Monarch competition.
The voice note, shared across WhatsApp groups and social media, appears to contain a voice resembling Mr. King, allegedly assuring someone that he could help in the competition.
However, Mr. King insisted the recording was not only unrelated to the competition but also two years old.
« That was on a plane two years ago. Two years ago, so that cannot be, and that was me being concerned coming to Trinidad to take up the President role, and was actually having a conversation with one of my, well, close core member as to who we could consider supporting to be the President or the Chairman of the Tobago Zone. So that has nothing to do with that competition today. »
The TUCO President said he knows exactly how the voice recording resurfaced, hinting that the audio was captured by a lone member of the organisation who had been seated behind him on the aircraft.
He explained that the discussion in the recording referenced his long-standing push for stronger female leadership within the organisation.
« It’s total mischief because, I mean, that person, whoever taped, did that tape, it wasn’t a plane. I think I know who it is because only one member from the organisation would have been on the plane, probably in the back. And that was me just trying, doing something that I have the rights to do. Somebody is going to replace me, so I was just considering a female too, because we don’t have many females and I’ve advocated for a female. It wasn’t Rosalind, but Candace Robinson, a female, because I was very passionate about the opposite sex getting an opportunity, because TUCO has never had that. »
