UWI To Launch Ayurvedic Medicine Programme
The University of the West Indies will soon begin a programme in Ayurvedic medicine.
This was revealed by UWI Campus Principal Professor Rose-Marie Belle Antonie during the University’s Campus Council Meeting on Wednesday.
She explained that the UWI was able to renew two Memoranda of Understanding with the Government of India.
In November last year, Health Minister Dr. Lackram Bodoe expressed support for integrating Ayurvedic medicine into the national health framework to promote holistic wellness, sustainability, and preventive healthcare.
He emphasised using traditional medicine to tackle Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) like diabetes and heart disease.
