Today, businesses, nurseries, primary and secondary schools, banks, government offices, supermarkets and more were sharing cocoa tea and breaking local bread and bakes in the spirit of Saint Lucia’s traditional culture. To a visitor, it looks like Jounen Kweyol is already underway. But, for Saint Lucians, this is just the preamble to the biggest of Saint Lucia’s most unique traditional festivals. And although there are only two communities hosting the festival this year, the restaurants and roadsides of the island are decorated with outlets offering special fare only available during this season.
