Alberta wildfires: Officials provide update on Fort McMurray, situation in province | LIVE

Alberta's Minister of Forestry and Parks Todd Loewen and Alberta Wildfire information unit manager Christie Tucker will provide an update as an out-of-control wildfire burns in the northern part of the province. Alberta Premier Danielle Smith held a press conference on Wednesday, where she said that she is "prepared to do whatever is necessary" to ensure people's safety. Several neighbourhoods in Fort McMurray remain under an evacuation order. So far, about 6,600 people have been forced to leave their homes and have been advised they will likely not be allowed to return until at least Tuesday. That re-entry date could be extended.
