Andy Street 'devastated' by defeat in West Midlands mayoral contest

Andy Street failed in a bid for a third term as West Midlands mayor by just 1,508 votes. He lost to Labour's Richard Parker in yet another defeat for the Conservative Party following a disastrous performance in local and mayoral elections. However, Mr Street refused to blame Prime Minister Rishi Sunak for the loss and said "tolerant conservatism" nearly won the day.
