At least 19 million tons of plastic end up in the environment every year globally, threatening biodiversity both in terrestrial environments and the oceans. It is estimated that in Kenya, at least 92% of plastic is never recycled, with much of it ending up in landfills, rivers, lakes and later in the ocean, but are there solutions and opportunities in plastic recycling? James Muritu from Murangá county is using all manner of plastics to produce fuel that is used in cars and other engines.
