Housing is an increasingly important issue in Britain ahead of an expected general election. A chronic lack of building new homes since World War II now means Britain lags behind the number of homes per thousand people compared to the rest of Western Europe. The shortage, coupled with a growing population, is driving up prices, making it difficult for young buyers to get on the property ladder. John Bevir reports.
