Vietnam is experiencing temperatures as high as 44 degrees Celsius, while India and the Philippines are also grappling with heatwaves that are putting people's health and livelihoods at risk. In India, at least two people have reportedly died from suspected heatstroke, while farmers in the Philippines are worried about the impact of the heat on their crops. Scientist Petch Manopawitr explained why this abnormal phenomenon occurred, saying, "This year beats the year before because of the El Niño effect, that particular region is hotter than normal," adding that an "uninhabitable earth pattern is coming." "We think that we are fine with the hot weather, but now with the temperature, the heatwave, and the intensity of the long period of hot weather, I think we have to make sure that people know about the risk as well," Manopawitr said.
