Federal budget ‘mechanically moving’ headline inflation

Independent analyst Evan Lucas says the federal budget is “mechanically moving” headline inflation. Mr Lucas said headline inflation will “technically decrease” as the promised energy rebates from the budget “kick through”. “What’s it going to do to core inflation? Almost nothing, in terms of what it does,” Mr Lucas told Sky News Australia.
