Fireworks light up Germany as retailer launches sale amid ongoing debate on ban

As New Year's Eve approaches, German police, environmental groups, and health authorities are calling for a ban on fireworks due to concerns over their inappropriate and careless use, as well as air pollution caused by the explosives. Despite the calls for a ban, fireworks enthusiasts in Grevenbroich, North Rhine-Westphalia, were treated to a dazzling display of fireworks and lasers as a retailer launched the sale of fireworks at midnight. The Managing Director of Pyroteamstore, Sascha Krumbach, emphasized that it is not a good idea to set off fireworks in city centers or old towns where space is limited. However, he does not support a ban in the countryside, "where people simply have space."
