Judges at the top United Nations court ordered Israel on Friday to halt its military assault on the southern Gaza city of Rafah, in a landmark emergency ruling on South Africa's case accusing Israel of genocide. Reading out the ruling by the International Court of Justice or ICJ, the body's president Nawaf Salam said the situation in the Palestinian enclave had deteriorated since the court last ordered Israel to take steps to improve it. Conditions had been met for a new emergency order. The court also ordered Israel to open the Rafah crossing between Egypt and Gaza to allow in humanitarian aid, and said it must provide access to the besieged enclave for investigators and report back on its progress within one month. “Today’s hearing is good, but it’s not enough," said demonstrator ML Hagui. "Only a free Palestine, also a free two-state solution is enough. It’s good for both people, both religions, and also for the Middle East.” For more info, please go to https://globalnews.ca/news/10253841/canada-icj-gaza-genocide-interim-ruling/ Subscribe to Global News Channel HERE: http://bit.ly/20fcXDc Like Global News on Facebook HERE: http://bit.ly/255GMJQ Follow Global News on X HERE: http://bit.ly/1Toz8mt Follow Global News on Instagram HERE: https://bit.ly/2QZaZIB #GlobalNews #israelhamasconflict
