Barbadian top tennis doubles player, Haydn Lewis, has been honoured by the International Tennis Federation for his contribution as a player to the Davis Cup. Lewis, who started his career in 2002, was recently presented with an award for reaching 50 Davis Cup ties. The Davis Cup is the premier international team event in men's tennis, and is contested annually between teams from over 140 countries. Speaking to CBC Sports, Lewis, who has a 26/20 win/loss record, says he hopes the award will be an inspiration for the young crop of tennis players in Barbados. Barbados' non-playing Davis Cup Captain Damien Applewhaite congratulated Lewis on his milestone.
