Montreal study explores consumer behaviour behind stockpiling during pandemics

Though a distant memory for many, it’s hard to forget the stressful situations brought upon shoppers as the COVID-19 pandemic shut down the world. From toilet paper to hand sanitizer, many items became hard-to-find desirables for most households. Now, in the post-COVID era, A new study from Montreal's Concordia University has explored consumer and market behavior during not just the recent pandemic, but many before it, including the swine flu virus and other emergency events. Xiaodan Pan, the doctor who led the study says stockpiling was used as a strategy to limit exposure to viruses. Global's Nily Louis has more.
