People Empowerment Ministry prepared for hurricane season

The Ministry of People Empowerment is not waiting until the last minute to prepare for this year's Atlantic hurricane season. Permanent Secretary Jehu Wiltshire says the stance has been adopted as weather systems tend to form in the earlier portion of the season. The plan includes the merger of social services and utilising the Resilience and Reintegration Unit along with other measures. His comments came on the sidelines of this morning's joint UNICEF FAO Regional Workshop held at the Courtyard by Marriott. Meanwhile the FAO's Sub Regional Coordinator for the Caribbean, Dr. Renata Clarke, underscored the importance of the session in ensuring several territories get prepared.
