A former Post Office boss has apologised after it was revealed that he blamed cash shortfalls on branch mangers "with their hands in the till". The comment was made in an email, read out in the inquiry into the post office horizon IT scandal which saw hundreds of subpostmasters wrongly prosecuted. Giving evidence Alan Cook said it was an expression he would "regret for the rest of my life".
