Queensland Premier promises power rebates

Premier Steven Miles is promising Queenslanders will not pay a single cent for electricity from July. It comes as he plans to increase the state’s power rebates to $1,000. The news was first reported by The Courier Mail and is expected to be announced on Thursday. This $1,000 rebate almost doubles the $550 announced in last year’s budget and will come into effect from July. Mr Miles has claimed coal royalties will fund the rebate, which will cost $2.5 billion.
