Sydney church stabbing: Police arrest 7 youths following investigation

Australian police officials revealed on Wednesday that their Joint Counter Terrorism Team arrested seven juveniles in an overnight raid. The arrests are in connection with the Sydney church stabbing incident that took place on April 15, where a knife-wielding teenager wounded four people, including Bishop Mar Mari, during a live-streamed service at Assyrian church. Police said there was premeditation as the 16-year-old suspect travelled to the church, far from his home, to commit the “terrorist” act, which was also the second stabbing incident Sydney had seen in just three days. "We identified links between the alleged offender and a network of associates and peers who we believe shared a similar violent extremist ideology," Australian Federal Police Deputy Commissioner Krissy Barrett said during a press conference on Wednesday.
