Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is in Port Colborne, Ont., on Tuesday, where a senior government source confirmed to Global News that Canada's first-ever lithium-ion battery separator plant will be built. A company based out of Japan called Asahi Kasei has reportedly decided to build its $1.6-billion lithium-ion battery separator manufacturing facility in the southwestern Ontario city. Canadian Manufacturers and Exporters has warned of job vacancies in the industry, including in Ontario where there were more than 18,900 vacancies in February.
