Digital Ticketing Terminals Set To Roll Out For Commuters

Commuters can expect to see digital ticketing terminals as early as Friday, April 24th, 2026.
On Thursday, the National Payment and Innovation Company of Trinidad and Tobago (NPICTT) announced the roll-out of digital payment options for bus ticket purchases.
NPICTT Payments Manager Dionne Williams outlined the initial phase of implementation.
« Come tomorrow, terminals will be deployed for the sale of tickets for the deluxe coach in the initial phase and then on a continued basis for deepening of bus tickets becoming available. Both via web and point of sale. »
The announcement by Ms. Williams follows a successful showing at Carnival’s Flava Village, where she said vendors processed over a quarter-million dollars in digital sales.
« We are happy to report that over 40 of them transacted just about a quarter million dollars in a five-week period. We consider this a success because again these are persons whose average sale is $40, $50. This is no small accomplishment, and we are extremely proud. »
Encouraged by these results, NPICTT said the initiative forms part of broader efforts to move Trinidad and Tobago toward a more cashless economy.
