Media Ambassador for the Police Service, ASP (Ag) Rajesh Lal, has refuted rumours in the public domain that the Anti-Kidnapping Unit has been disbanded. Speaking on today’s edition of CNC3’s The Morning Brew, the TTPS spokesman said not only is the Unit still active and operational, it has ensured that many kidnap victims in recent times were safely reunited with their families. ASP Lal also shared personal safety tips members of the public should follow, to make themselves hard targets for criminals and would-be kidnappers.

Doubles vendor Anisha Hosein has been released by her kidnappers. TTT News understands that Hosein was released Wednesday night and was taken to the St. Joseph Police Station. She was subsequently taken to hospital for a medical treatment. Reports were that she was released sometime after 10pm near the Caroni Cremation Site following which she was picked up by passers-by who took her to the station. She was kidnapped on Saturday while she and her husband were about to open their branch of Sauce Doubles along the Eastern Main Road in El Dorado. They were confronted by several gunmen who arrived in a Nissan B-15 Sentra. The gunmen fired once at her husband, grazing his cheek, following which she was bundled into the Sentra.
