Schools to reopen amid floods

Schools will reopen next week as scheduled, despite forecasts of heavy rainfall and flooding across the country. The announcement by the Ministry of Education comes amid reports by the Kenya Meteorological Department, warning that the heavy downpour will continue for the next seven days. Speaking during an annual symposium on competency-based assessment in Nairobi, basic education principal secretary Belio Kipsang said the ministry is part of the multi-agency team by President William Ruto to deal with the effects of the heavy rains.
