Previously removed Confederate-era names have been restored to two public schools in Virginia, after a school board in Shenandoah County voted 5-1 in favor of the move on Friday, May 10. It is the first community in the nation to restore stripped names of pro-slavery Civil War Confederate leaders. After Friday’s vote, the name of Virginia’s Mountain View High School will be reverted to Stonewall Jackson High. Honey Run Elementary will return to Ashby-Lee Elementary.
